The Sister Cities International Youth Ambassadors promoting world peace and friendship as citizen diplomats
Sister Cities International Youth Ambassadors is a joint program between Atlanta Montego Bay Sister Cities Committee, Inc (AMBSCC) and the Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Summit establishing an intensive leadership program designed to build the next generation of global leaders. It is open to Students, ages 14–18, from Atlanta, Montego Bay and its 28 international sister cities.
Over 50 teenagers from Atlanta, Montego Bay and around the world have participated in the Annual Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Summit. The Youth Leadership Summit is designed to engage the next generation of leaders and introduce them to the world of international affairs. Through a specialized diplomatic simulation moderated by the U.S. Diplomacy Center, site visits, speaker sessions, and peer collaboration, participants will learn how different national interests drive international cooperation on critical issues. Over three days, the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) will provide students with effective problem solving strategies, leadership skills, and insights into international affairs. Business and civic leaders participating in workshops, discussions and presentations on advocacy, activism and leadership.
Applications are available to Students, ages 14-18, who live and attend school in the city of Atlanta, Montego Bay Jamaica or one of its 28 sister cities and have an interest in international relations, leadership, advocacy, activism or gender studies.
There is no cost to attend the Summit. AMBCC will fund awardees’ summit registration fee and travel expenses to attend the week-long summit, including accommodations, roundtrip airfares, meals, transportation to and from the airport and during the summit, travel insurance, and visa fees (if required).
The 2018 Global Youth Ambassadors Leadership Summit will take place from August 1-5, 2018 at the University of Denver. Students will experience a taste of college life by lodging at the dorms at the University of Denver. Chaperones will supervise the students throughout the Summit.
